Obi Emelonye is a highly productive film producer, writer, director, and university lecturer, making significant contributions to the advancement of Nigerian cinema in the diaspora.

Born on March 24, 1967, in Port-Harcourt, Rivers Nigeria, he later established residence in London during the 1990s.
A former professional footballer and legal practitioner, Obi obtained a BA (Hons) Theatre Arts degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 1990.

He continued his academic journey with an LLB Law degree at the University of Wolverhampton in 1998, followed by a post-graduate degree in Legal Practice from London Metropolitan University in 2002.
