In 2005, former Bruce Springsteen manager Bob Spitz published an extensive history of one of the most iconic rock and roll bands of all time. Although it joined the many, many Beatles books already in print, his The Beatles: A Biographyhas become the new standard reference both because he had unprecedented access to many people who had never given interviews before and because of his exhaustive background research.
Many reviewers point to the sizable number of factual errors in the giant tome, but its thousands of footnotes, a well-categorized index, and two large sections of photos make Spitz’s The Beatlesa valuable resource.
The book is divided into three large parts.
